Renewed Imperial effort!
Imperial forces of the 87th Steel Legion Set up prepared ambushes along the road from Death Mire to Hive Infernus, and met with significant success.
The 87th Steel Legion held the heights of Hill 8792 in the Death Mire, overlooking Infernus Highway, and ambushed rogue traitor marines and Chaos forces, as well as an unknown enemy (inq file 2231-432, access forbidden. ref: Ordo Malleus) that is most heinous in its radical nature and was deemed a direct threat against Imperial rule in the sector.
The regiment slaughtered the traitors in their hundreds before finally being forced to withdraw in the face of overwhelming numbers. Two battles were won decisively, with a third loss that finally drove the brave men and women of the 87th off their objective.
Let their example fill your hearts with courage and you spirits with the Emperor's resolve!

Breaking news: Major traitor offensive broken!
A traitor marine force of unknown origin was found swarming out of the areas surrounding the Death Mire ash wastes. Their estimated number was over one hundred traitor Space Marines. Their reasons for conducting operations in the ash wastes were unknown, though they were spotted by Sentinel Scouts of the Cadian 87th regiment.
Imperial Guard forces of multiple regiments were called in, and took the traitors by surprise. An a battle of attrition spanning the horizon of the ash wastes, the Imperial Guard armored forces were able to wipe out the Chaos insurrectionists to a man in pitched battle.
This marks the greatest success of Imperial forces since the start of operation Death Tone, scoring an overwhelming victory and crippling traitor aggression in the area.
(The report can be viewed at http://z4.invisionfree.com/Boot_Camp/index.php?showtopic=11564...helluva good job!)
Disaster in Death Mire
Ork forces, bearing the personal banner of Warboss Zagstrukk himself, massacred Imperial Guard forces of the 598th Vostroyan. The regiment was deployed to act as a defensive force, guarding a series of bastions in a research facility when it was attacked via orbital support of crude Orc breaching craft.
The bastions were destroyed and all three objectives captured by the Orcs, with the survivors being hunted down in the ash wastes. It is unlikely there are any survivors. This marks a second overwhelming defeat at the hands of Orcish forces. Imperial commanders are now reevaluating their defensive strategies for Operation Death Tone, calling for additional reinforcements and any aid that can be mustered. The Orcish forces are now estimated to be in the billions in the region, and they show now signs of slowing down.

Operation Death Tone
Imperial forces will be conducting a new operation during the next two weeks, codenamed Death Tone. The operation is aimed at preserving imperial controll over the Death Mire region. Imperial forces are being redirected to the region to maintain order and establish a fortified defensive perimeter in response to increased enemy activity in the area.
All battles will occur in this region during the operation's duration. The operation will last from today, August 13th, until August 20th. All battles won will double their points values won for their race, though lossess will still detract the same ammount of points (you cannot go below 0). Good luck, and good hunting!
Fighting Intensifies!
With a renewed fighting on all front, Imperial forces on Armageddon are hard pressed to maintain their objectives and keep enemy forces from wresting controll of the areas surrounding the hive cities.
In the latest reports, Imperial forces outside Hive Infernus have met with defeat in facing a Tau Fire Cadre that has successfully made planetfall and established a beach-head in the ash wastes. Men of the 65th Steel Legion were defeated and pushed back after attempting to attack Tau forces in the sector.
Another field of concern to Imperial High Command is what is being called Tyranid "Splinter Fleet Armageddon", which has now breached past the ravaged orbital defences and also established a beach-head, with Tyranid organisms being sighted outside the ruined Hive Hades. Men of the 7th Galen Rockhounds were rushed to the area to respons, fighting the Tyranids back and securing a minor victory, before reinforcements arrived. Apon arrival, the full-strength Rockhounds regiment won a decisive victory in a large running battle, driving the creatures away from Hive Hades. Their current location is unknown, but their projected casualties are high.
There has been no further movement from other forces, though Orcs have been sighted mobilizing forces to launch an all out assault across the Styx River. Their presumed target is projected to be Cerberus Base in the Equatorial Jungle.
There is no further news at this time.
